Abstract. Binary As(Ge)–S and ternary Ge–As–S glasses along stoichiometric (quasi-binary) and non-stoichiometric lines were studied to determine the role of the mean coordination number on elastic moduli and density. New information on behavior near “magic” coordination numbers was obtained. Comparative analysis of elastic and density characteristics was performed. Structural interpretation is given within heterogeneous ordering and nanoclusterization concepts.

Keywords: binary As(Ge)–S and ternary Ge–As–S glasses, elastic modulus, density, mean coordination numbers, glass structure.
